When you give to your NEC Foundation, you join thousands of others in committing to the mission and goals of Exchange and its Foundation. Your generous gifts are deeply appreciated. You are making a difference in the lives of children, families, and communities across America!

CAP BRIEFS

We are pleased to report on the progress of our network of community-based Exchange CAP Centers. Much has happened over the past year, and more is planned for the coming year:

·         Dr. Neil Guterman (University of Chicago) and our own George Bryan will present outcomes from our recent clinical trial at the 18th National Conference on Child Abuse and Neglect. This prominent conference occurs only every two years and will provide excellent visibility for The National Exchange Club, National Exchange Club Foundation, and our network of CAP Centers. The conference will be held in April, 2012, in Washington, DC in conjunction with the Children's Bureau's Centennial Celebration.

·         We will also be exhibiting at the prestigious 26th Annual San Diego International Conference on Child and Family Maltreatment in January, 2012.

·         Now that our Exchange Parent Aide model is considered “evidence-based practice” (having completed one randomized controlled study, a retrospective study, a comparison study, and two quasi-experimental studies – all with positive results) we are striving to improve centers’ evaluation processes to ensure quality and fidelity through updates to our standards and technical support.

·         The positive results of the clinical trial of our Exchange Parent Aide model enabled us to develop a new parent aide training curriculum that will strengthen Exchange CAP Centers’ efforts to gain equal footing among competing nonprofit organizations in their respective communities. The new Parent Aide Training Manual is being made available to all Exchange CAP Centers that have had at least one person trained in the new curriculum, and training sessions are being held across the country.

·         All centers have now gone through initial accreditation. We are excited about the positive response to the re-accreditation process, which has been simplified by creating on-line submission capability. Accreditation occurs every three years as a quality assurance measure.

As a result of these developments, we have increased interest in starting new CAP Centers. We have added two new centers in the past year and a half, and have another four in the process of development. It’s truly an exciting time for Exchange’s national project!
